SMP Negeri 24 Penajam Paser Utara which is in the Ring 2 area of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) has a vision to develop as a school that is oriented towards a green, clean, healthy and sustainable environment. The position of schools located around the IKN area is an encouragement to build an educational environment that is not only superior in learning, but is also able to be part of efforts to preserve the environment in the IKN buffer area.
The green school vision is realized through environmental habits and management carried out in a planned and sustainable manner. Waste management, greening, sanitation, drainage, land use, as well as saving water and energy are directed to become part of daily life in schools. Thus, concern for the environment is not just a temporary program or activity, but becomes a culture that is embedded in the educational process and school activities.
A green school culture was built by involving all members of SMP Negeri 24 PPU, starting from the principal, teachers, education staff, students, to parents and the surrounding community. Every school member is expected to have awareness and shared responsibility for protecting, caring for and developing the school environment. Through this culture, it is hoped that SMP Negeri 24 PPU can become an example of an educational unit that is able to grow in line with the spirit of environmentally friendly and sustainable IKN development.
